DAVE LEWIS a.k.a LEWISDAVE: MUSIC

Soon Come

(DAVE LEWIS, TREVOR SHIPSTON & THE BAREFOOT PILOTS)
Dave Lewis
It's not what you think. This one's about waiting for change, longing for change and not realising that you were the change all along- and you're changing all the time...
Soon Come

V1

We stay around here, living past times
Getting left behind
Days become months and they’re soon passing years
It’s playing on my mind

Tell it like a story sharing out the glory
About some stolen time
I’ve never been no poet so it’s difficult to show
All the secrets we’re gonna need to find

V2

And you’re still searching for solutions to a problem
You never even had
Your ship’s run aground got washed up river
And it’s looking bad

Time is short in passing it’s a story with an ending
It’s no kiss and tell
It’ll take a million words and at least a month to read
I’ll begin it when you’re listening well

CH

We soon come, we soon come
When the facts change I simply change my mind
I was contemplating you would too
So soon come, soon come
There’s plenty round here they said so fill your cup
And do whatever it is you gotta do

V3

Here they come so watch them in their cars in a hurry
Some by aeroplane
Coming by the million in their masses and they say
No one is the same

Some get what they’re after and some are waiting for an offer
On a better day
Some get all the money, super fame recognition
They say it’s better being done this way

CH2

We soon come, we soon come
When the facts change I simply change my mind
I was contemplating you would too
It soon comes, soon comes
You can change too and you can clear your mind
And do whatever it is you gotta do

M8

(We) soon come…
(It’ll) soon come…
The day’s done we’re sitting here again
Another year’s passed, we think we’ve really changed and nothing’s really changed at all

½ CH (Drop down)

We soon come, soon come
You can change too and you can clear your mind
And do whatever it is you gotta do

Solo over verse

Tell it like a story and be sharing out the glory
(Sometimes) it’s better that way
I’ve never been no poet so it’s difficult to show
I’ll have to leave it for another day
