It's out...
-
April 13, 2008
The new Barefoots album called "Songs from the Trailing Edge" is now out on CDbaby.com and will soon be available on ITUNES and for digital distribution too. Contains my best work to date and well worth the wait- that's a personal view, of course...
New tracks, new album, new everything...
-
February 24, 2008
I've added two tracks from the upcoming Barefoots' release which will be called "Songs from the Trailing Edge". I've also added "Nectarine" from the first album just for old time's sake and because I like the harmonica- it still wouldn't get played on the BBC mind.
All tracks on this site have now been converted to play so you can play the whole track instead of a short clip only.
Happy listening...
New album posting No.2...
-
January 27, 2008
...this is going to take a little bit longer- and that's a good thing. Have added a trumpet part to one of the songs today and looking for that "BP" acoustic guitar sound too. So, we're back to tracking. Did I say early summer for the release date? That's going to have to change. I'll post some tracks up on the site in the meantime- rough mixes, extended versions that kind of thing. Give me some feedback if you like. Thanks for listening in the meantime...
New album posting No. 1
-
January 26, 2008
Well all the tracks are ready- I think. Might add some trumpet to one track. So ready to mix. There are 11 tracks in total and I am doing it in this order:
Mix; Master; Burn to a CD ( i.e a "White" label); check the running order and the mix for glitches etc; re-mix; re-master; burn a CD with new running order; commission art-work for CD;get 50 copies done; sort CD/ digital distribution; update MySpace and the web-site to market new album. Then we can go round again with No 3. Release date a probable early summer I'd say...

Such a long,long time I know...
So check out the following for tracks, news, photos and vibes about Dave Lewis and The Barefoot Pilots too. We are at the mixing stage with "Barefoots 2" at the moment and there are some great tracks ready- we're really pleased with it anyway. ETA? Two months maximum- you heard it here...

Those of you who have checked out The Barefoot Pilots CD (available at itunes- see links section) have remarked about the painting that is the inspiration for the cover art. It's by Rachel Alleyne a London UK based artist. I've inserted a link to some sites where you can find out more about her work

Dance mix or Summer season hangover?

Listen to two versions of the same track? It's called "Hiding in Plain Sight" and I've uploaded them on to the music section.
Another new one...
-
October 11, 2007
There is a new track in the Music section called "Ten Things I Didn't Know". It's part of a selection of songs that Trev and I were putting together for a second EP of Barefoots tracks to be put out this Autumn but there was so much material we might delay release and put it out as a full album in the new year. Anyway, have a listen...
Well why not?
-
October 8, 2007
After all, it will be Christmas soon. So I've decided to put all tracks available in the Music section as full play and downloadable. It's even better than the Radiohead deal- you don't have to pay at all... You are of course requested to purchase the odd one available at
www.cdbaby.com. Thanks for listening anyway...

Trevor Shipston is a Bass and Guitar Player and songwriter who forms the other half of The Barefoot Pilots (see later blog note.) He can usually be found underwater because his other career is as a scuba diver. He's probably 300 feet below the surface of the Indian Ocean as you read this in fact...
Rupert Cobb helps with production and has played the odd trumpet part too. Look in the links to others to find out more at
www.logictoolbox.com
Bethany Weimers is a UK based singer-songwriter and contributes vocals and backing vocals on a number of tracks too. Find out more about Bethany at

Who are The Barefoot Pilots?
-
August 1, 2007
The Barefoot Pilots is a splinter project featuring me and fellow UK songwriter Trevor Shipston- that's when he's not 300 feet under the sea in his other occupation as a scuba diver- gets a deep bass sound though- ho! ho!
we'll be posting up some new stuff in the next few weeks and check the site for the new album on
www.cdbaby.com and itunes soon.
